Alpha One reverse

brs517	1986 Alpha One outdrive 140 Mercruiser engine Just started having trouble shifting into reverse. Actually goes forward sometimes when it should reverse. Does anyone know what the problem could be? This is only an intermittent problem...sometimes it goes into reverse just fine. Thanks, Brian	2002-08-20
flashback	If your drive is not makeing any weird sounds, I would guess that you shift cables are in need of lube or adjustment. as this is a off and on type problem, most likely the cables need some oil. Have you noticed the shifter getting stiff or sluggish?	2002-08-20
brs517	No, actually just the opposite...it feels a little loose...i'll check the cable...where would it need to be adjusted?	2002-08-20
flashback	Probably need to pick up a clymer repair manual,it shows how to do it. not that difficult but does take up a few pages to explain...	2002-08-23
