4.3 Mercruiser Alfa 1 Positive Wire Overheat

TRL I have a 4.3 that has been giving me trouble sinceI bought it. It is in a 1993 20 ft. Caravel. The problem is the positive wire will overheat and the motor will sputter and then quit. It will not restart, only turn over when you try to crank it. This may happen when you are running or when you first try to start. The guys at the marina finnaly found that my power was running to the instraments before going to the starter and that seamed to solve the problem but now it has happened again. Any ideas. 2002-08-02
Trent Crawford This boat been in saltwater? If it were me I would change the cable. Internal corrosion can do this very thing.

Whats the voltage doing while the engine is running??
